ABQ 2022

Missed the world-record-breaking-history-making event? Take a look at the recap.

Hepatitis Australia was commissioned by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care to implement the ‘Ending Hepatitis C Campaign’, of which Australia's Biggest Quiz was its flagship event.

Australia's Biggest Quiz set out to raise awareness of hepatitis C and its cure using the fun and accessible medium of trivia, culminating in the world-record attempt event.

A snapshot of the 2022 inaugural event:

  • Wednesday, 26 October 2022
  • 4,771 people registered to play online or at one of the 16 live event locations around Australia
  • 2,560 people played the quiz
  • 95 community organisations involved across Australia
  • Over two million people were reached through TV, radio, online, and print channels
  • 85% of quiz players reported an increase in their awareness of hepatitis C and its cure
  • 59% of quiz players have or will speak with others about hepatitis C and its cure

This May, we will be continuing the conversations Australia’s Biggest Quiz started in 2022 with a month of quiz MAY-hem: a digital and live event continuation campaign to continue raising awareness of hepatitis C and its cure.

There are two ways to participate in Australia's Biggest Quiz May-hem

Whilst the connection between trivia and a health awareness campaign might not be obvious at first, there is one big barrier to eliminating hepatitis C: knowledge.

It's often said that knowledge is power, but most of us know more about sport, geography, music, and film than we know about hepatitis C. Australia’s Biggest Quiz and our partner, QuizzaMe want to change that.

Australia's Biggest Quiz is a fun, easy way to bring communities together, disseminate positive information, and get people talking about hepatitis C and its cure.

Participation in Australia's Biggest Quiz is open to everyone!

In 2022, Australia’s Biggest Quiz focused on 16 priority locations, in addition to attracting a national online audience. Those locations were:

  • ACT: Tuggeranong
  • New South Wales: Gosford, Dubbo, Goulburn, Blacktown
  • Queensland: Townsville, Bundaberg, Toowoomba
  • Western Australia: Mundaring, Mandurah
  • South Australia: Salisbury
  • Northern Territory: Katherine
  • Tasmania: Burnie
  • Victoria: Shepparton, Ballarat, Melton

Australia’s Biggest Quiz 2023, will still nurture the relationships established in the above locations in 2022 and will have an even broader reach with over 150+ weekly trivia events happening nationwide and a whole month of engaging our growing online community.

To be in the running to win part of the $20,000 prize pool you are required to be an Australian resident. You can access the full competition conditions of entry HERE
